[12] Panegirikosz = ünnepi beszéd a hallgatóság telkesítésére. [13] Propugnált = megvédett. SUMMARY In the sixties of the last century after the fall of the Bach's absolutism a movement started at the Medical University of Pest: to send down those foreign professors, who didn't speak Hungarian and to appoint to a professorship only those, who were able to deliver their lectures in Hungarian. This action divided the Hungarian medical society into two parts: Markusovszky and his friends had a high opinion of the professional merits of the foreign professors and compromised on the language question. Poor and his friends insisted rigidly to the appointment of the Hungarian speaking professors. Poor edited in common with Markusovszky the Hungarian Medical Weekly (Orvosi Hetilap), the only journal of the Hungarian physicians at this time. They were involved in a press controversy on account of the above mentioned problems and these articles led to an open break between the two editors and two parties. An unknown letter of Poor written to Markusovszky is published now for the first time, as a hand-written document of the former controversy. This break led to the start of the journal "Therapy" (Gyógyászat) in the next year. With this fact the two medical parties founded two special scientific reviews and their controversy or rather opposition got a forum on the columns of the journals. With the publication of this unknown letter author intended to give an impression about the quarrel between the two parties of the Hungarian physicians. The detailed enfolding of this matter comes out in a special paper.
