Summary After a brief historical survey of the development of the contraceptiv methods authors write about the applied methods, the early results of the experimental re­search work and the endeavours showed in the field of the birth-control of the mankind— in chronological order—from the prehistoric age (primitive people) till the 18th and 19th century in Egypt, Palestina, Far East, Greeks and Romans, Islam and the medieval Europe. They are examining also the history of the birth-control of the 20th century, subdividing the matter into many chapters. They are reviewing the activity of the propagators of the early part of the century too, the development of the spermicid and occlusive contraception, the abstinent and sterilizing methods, further the immunological attempts. They are publishing selections from the cycle of the Hungarian folk customs at the beginning of the century and inform on the beginning of the researching of the birth-control in the Soviet Union. They outline in detail the history of the 2 most effectual prevention of our age: that of intrauterine and hormonal contraception. Meanwhile they touch upon the oral method of birth­control applied by decoction of plant used in the popular therapy. Finally authors give a short insight into the present searching work and their perspectives.
