Dr. Harangby László: Mecsnyikov munkássága és jelentősége az orvostudományban
clearer. His researches are nowdays more actual than ever. The activity of the biologist Mechnikov has shown us first, that the significance of biological basic nations is of an outstanding importance even in the field of the notion of medical science. Nowadys it becomes even clearer and clearer what a close connection is between biology and medical science. Those who are trying to separate the two sciences sharply from each other, are hindering the future development of medical science. On the other hand, those, who proclaim the close union between the two sciences, are working in the interest of the clearing up of the most actual purpose of medicine, for instance for the solution of problèmes of microbiology, immunity and gerontology. Therefore we who are investigating the ways and means of organic defence and the problems of senescence in Mechnikov'?, spirit, we are fully entitled to state that he has managed to realise his chief aim, i. e. the defeat of mortality as regards himself, since his theories believed to be dead, live here with us and are again inspiring us.
