Samuel, the 3 years old son of Rector Sámuel Berzétei, Esq., from Krisztina's smallpox; from him the second son of aforesaid Rector: 5. István, on April 29., from him 6. on May 12. János, the 2 years old son of Praeceptor János Tóth, Esq., from him his little sister 7. Julcsa Tóth, aged 9 months. From these children were vaccinated S. János, son of Praeceptor János Darin, Esq., 9. on June 8, András, son of Mihály Kósa; from him 10. Erzsébet, daughter of Estók Geller and 11. my little girl Susanna, aged 5, and my niece Kürti; 12. Maria, aged 6 months, daughter of Mrs. Ferenc Makai; •and the child of the innkeeper Gyalai; 13-14. the twins of Notar Lepsényi, Esq. of Tur: Károly and Lajos, 4 months old; 15. on June 15, 1802. from my girl Susanna the daughter of the bailiff Imre Arany, Jolánka, from her 16. on June 27, Susanna, daughter of the local barber István Pintér, Esq, in presence of the mother. Forthwith, I handed over to her this work, it being her business. She shall also be responsible for the registration of those whom she vaccinates. June 27, Anno 1802. Mihály Major, Pastor of the Reformed Church, Tiszaföldvár." Major tells us further that the vaccination was thereafter discontinued with the fatal result that in two months 90 children died from smallpox. But let us quote again from the records of rour author: ^Continuation of the meritorius history of the cowpox in our •community. It was István Pintér, Esq. who took it on himself to propagate the seed of the vaccine among us. However, he was very unfortunate.
