Dr. SCHULTHEISZ EMIL: Testi orvosságok könyve
SUMMARY A medical manuscript, written presumably in 1619. under the title „Testi Orvosságok Könyve" (Book of Bodily Medicaments) is described. In the 17th century there were house pharmacies in many Hungarian households and courts, in which also booklets describing the drugs and their use were also to be found. The manuscript appears to be such a booklet and deals with the preparation and use of several, mostly plant, medicaments and with some methods for treating wounds. The manuscript is a copy of a work by an unknown author. Its origin remains to be obscure. The prescriptions and procedures of treatment described in it suggest, however, that the author must have been a person possessing contemporary natural historical knowledge and was presumably a physician.
