technical terms. Utilizing popular word-stock, he succeeded Ln creating a technical vocabulary for all branches of science that would be suitably fitted into the Hungarian language. His technical terms are proofs both of a sound linguistic instinct and of profound technical knowledge. The words quoted in Mihály Kováts's vocabulary became current with a few exceptions. His words and the achievements of his meritorious life fell undeservedly into oblivion. In our days, however, wlhen we feel the importance of respecting progressive traditions and progressing scientists of our past, it becomes imperative to retrieve the memory of Mihály Kováts from oblivion and to present it in its integral purity. This paper too was meant to serve to do him justice before history.
