"As a matter of fact I think myself for a historian" (Zoltán Fejős' interview with László Vajda) László Vajda was born in Hungary and studied ethnology in Budapest where he took his PhD degree 1 947. He left Hungary in 1 956 and settled down in Western Germany. First he began to work at the Frobenius Institute in Frankfurt am Main. Some years later he moved to Munich where he is still living. In this interview László Vajda describes his professional career and scientific background both in Hungary and Germany. He is very much for a comparative and historical approach and methodology in ethnology.
