BEATRIX AZARy Places and concepts of space in funeral rituals The author, on the basis of Hungarian ethnographic data, outlines a model in this article about how the space appears as a principle of organization in the funeral rituals within Hungarian peasant culture. From the phase of the dying to the beliefs about the other world, she specifies the important elements of space and the principles of attitudes related to them. She also mentions how the use of space may be maintained or altered when some traditional places in the funeral are replaced by new ones.
