LÁSZLÓ LAJTAI The dukun of the Minangkabau (Sumatra) in a medical anthropological perspective The article briefly presents a actual case of a Minangkabau dukun (shaman, sorcerer, healer) in West-Sumatra. It examines some of its major elements in order to better understanding the case in a medical anthropological context: the muslim, matrilinear, in the modern Indonesian state well and flourishingly integrated minangkabau culture, and the non-biomedical healing and connected worldviews in Southeast-Asia. It goes on to describe some of the relevant aspects of living and functioning in a plural health care system in developing countries at the beginning of 2 1st century.
