ZOLTÁN KARÁCSONY The discovery of the bachelors' dance in Inaktelke (Romania) Inaktelke, a small Hungarian-speaking village in Kalotaszeg, Romania became one of the best studied field in the 20th century with regard to its dance life. As a result a very rich documentary material accumulated and an intensive research began in this field. This kind of study has heavily influenced the village's way of life. The researchers' interest helped to keep alive the village's dance groups for a much longer time period than in the neighbouring villages. Parallel to this process the inner evaluation of the village's dance life and at a more general level, the inhabitants' relationship to tradition changed substantively.
