SZ. BURGER ALICE: LATE ROMAN MONEY CIRCULATION IN SOUTH-PANNONIA / Régészeti Füzetek II/22. (Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum Budapest, 1981

1. PHASE A

3. CONSTANS - CONSTANTIUS II A.D. 341 TO 346 After 346 there was a radical change both in the production of various coins as well as in the case of the reverse types. From that time onwards the follis hitherto common - were replaced by centenionalis the value of AE2 - AE3, i.e. by maiorinae. From this period onwards, between 346-350 only eight kinds (Nr. (T) - (To) ) of the Rev. types FEL TEMP REPARATIO, existing in eleven variants, can be found. The products of the mints of Gaul issued for Constans do not occur in our material, while in the mean time ROM and AQU were producing three types, and the mints of SIS and THE were also working. Of the Eastern mints only the ones at HER and ANT were operating, the products of both (Nr. (To) ) can be found in our material together with the type Nr. (3j) : VIRTUS AUGUSTORUM. SIS and THE were issuing series of subsidiary or of identical types in the value of AE 3. Of the coins of CONSTANTIUS II only such ones were issued in the value of AE 2, which were not struck for CONSTANS: Nr. (6a) (6b) (?) (6b) , and particularly type (?). Besides HER and ANT the mint of CON was also in operation, SIS was producing coins of the value of AE 3 in identical type, but instead of the products of THE we may meet those of ANT. Besides the treasure hoards the material of Perbál dates from that period. The circulation of money can be well traced primarily in the cemeteries of Pécs, Ságvár, S. szil and Zengővárkony. 37
