CONTEMPORATY FAKES The fakes of Szőny listed here come from three sources. A collection of 26o coins, all contemporary fakes found at Szőny sites came to the collection of the Hungarian National Museum, Numismatic Department in 1943. The unit was catalogued under inv. no.: 21. I943.I-26O. but the merging of the collection into the collection of the Department never took place. During the siege of Budapest the whole collection disappeared. Thus the description of this part of the material is based strictly on the inventory entries. Most of the other fakes are also from the Collection of the Numismatic Department and from the paper of Károly Szentgál

i /NK 23-24(1924-25), pp. 1-4/ and from the Lenhardt Collection. We do not date fakes since they were struck at a later, uncertain time after the issue of the originals.
