I-II4 corresponds with the listing in the treatise) The find came to light in the Autumn of 1959 in Szőny, south of the former legionary camp, about I, 5oo metres, in the course of some earth work. The find included 118 aurei of which 114 found their way to the Numismatic Department of the Hungarian National Museum, the rest, four, got lost. The find starts with the coins of Nero and closes with the aurei of Septimius Severus and Julia Domna. The last pieces of the hoard were struck between 193 and 196 A.D., and 196 and 211 A.D. respectively. (Fig. I-V. I-II4) The hoard was hidden in a bronze jug which had a very narrow neck. The aurei were possibly also wrapped in cloth since textile remains showed on the coins. (Barkóczi, L. - Biró-Sey, K. : Gold find of Brigetio.
