refilling, the earth was once more checked layer by layer with the metal detector. Together with the small fragments, 45 bronze pieces, a small bag of scattered prehistoric sherds, a small bronze plaque of unknown age and a lead? lump were found. Some of the sherds belonged to the Gáva culture. On 9. April, 1998, we surveyed the site once more and collected a few uncharacteristic prehistoric sherds. So we concluded that it was a depot find hidden in the ground probably outside the contemporary settlement. Bronze depot: 1. An open bracelet, round in section, with tapering and cut terminals decorated by incised bunches of lines. Worn. Diam.: 8.1 x 8.8 cm (Pl. I.l) 1 2. Two fragments of an open bracelet, diamond-shaped in section, with tapering terminals. They may belong to the same item. Diam.: 7.3 x 8.1 cm (Pl. I. 2a-b) 3. Two fragments of an open bracelet, subtriuangular in section, with tapering terminals. They may belong to the same item. Diam.: ~ 6.8 cm (PI. 1. 3a-b) 4. The fragment of an open band bracelet decorated with ridges on the edges and in the middle. The middle ridge does nut run all along the bracelet, it is closed by a half ridge perpendicular to it about 1 cm from the terminal. L: 4.2 cm, W: 1.7 cm (Pl. I. 4) 5. A small spearhead with a stressed and segmented central ridge. The places of the rivets, which fastened it to the shaft, can be seen facing each other on the socket (Pl. I. 5) 6. Socketed chisel{l), edge fragment. L: 4.5 cm (PL. 1. 7) 7. A socketed axe with a straight cutting edge, oval in section and bears a plastic ornament. The loop broke off and the cutting edge is injured. Worn. L: 11.6 cm, (Pl. I. 6) 8. A looped socketed axe with an arched butt and plastic, strtessed edges, sub-hexagonal in section. It is cracked above the cutting edge. L: 12.5 cm (Pl. I. 8) 9. Three fragments of a looped socketed axe with a segment-shaped butt, stressed lateral edges, quadrangular in section, made of poor material. The loop broke off and a small part is missing where, probably, there was also a small hole due to casting error. L: 12.4 cm. (Pl. II. 1) 10. Three fragments of a socketed axe with stressed lateral edges and an angular crosssection. It is in a very poor condition, slightly deformed, with porous surfaces. L: 8.3 cm. (Pl. II. 2) 11. The fragment of a socketed axe with a straight rim, a stressed lateral edge and a plastic ornament of thin ridges. L: 5 cm (PL. II. 3) 12. The fragment of a worn socketed axe of an angular cross-section L: 3.8 cm (Pl. II. 4) 13-14. Cutting edge fragments of socketed axes. (Pl. II. 5-6) 15. A slightly arched sickle with a knobbed terminal. It is somewhat deformed and shows casting error at the knobbed terminal. Three parallel ridges decorate it at the knob and two at the back. L: 16 cm (Pl. II. 7) 16. A slightly arched, corrugated, deformed sickle with a knobbed terminal. Two(?) parallel ridges decorate it at the knob and two more at the back. L: 16.1 cm (Pl. II. 8) 17. A slightly arched and bent sickle with a knobbed terminal. Broken at the terminals. Two worn, parallel ridges decorate it at the back. L: 15.2 cm (Pl. II. 9) 18. A strongly bent sickle with a knobbed terminal and with casting error at the knobbed terminal. The knob is low. Three parallel ridges decorate it at the knob and two more at the back. Broken into two. L: 12 cm (Pl. II. 10) 19. A strongly arched sickle with a pointed knobbed terminal, injured on the cutting edge and at the terminal. Two parallel ridges decorate it at the back. L: 11.8 cm (PI. III. 1) 16
