scheme and then in 1925 by introducing the best elements of contemporary European educa­tional reform into the curriculum. (Simultaneously he organised the network of elementary schools with minority languages as the teaching medium.) Finally, between 1926-1930, with unprecedented speed, he had 5,000 classrooms and homes for teachers constructed, mostly among the isolated farmhouses on the Great Plain. His reorganisation and modernisation of the secondary schools was executed with similar thor­oughness. He reformed teacher training, established new types of school (for instance the agri­cultural high school) and opened between five and ten new schools every year. As more than a dozen education acts show, Klebelsberg's attention turned to everything, from the writing of textbooks through to libraries, school health and sport to child psychology and the creation of playgrounds.
