56. Tankard, parcel-gilt, with medals representing Melanchthon, Luther and Huss, early 17th century Emm HHP ™ logical disputes printed soon after their taking place. The preachers were simultaneously priests, teachers, printers, authors, and translators. In the case, besides the portraits of Martin Luther and John Calvin, a likeness of István Szegedi Kis, pastor of Ráckeve active on the territory occupied by the Turks, is shown; this was drawn by his pupil and successor Máté Skaricza. The activity of István Szegedi Kis is recalled by his summing up of dogma Theologiae syncerae loci communes..., printed in Basel in 1586. The great personalities of the Reformation were represented on a tankard made in the early 17th century on German territory, decorated with medals showing Melanchthon, Luther and Huss (Fig. 56).
