22. Detail of a chalice foot with the figure of St. Ladislas, Torna (Turnianské Podhradie), early 15th century this order. His tomb at Újlak (Ilok) became one of the important places of pilgrimage in mediaeval Hungary. The wooden bowl belonging to Capistrano was transformed to a chalice not long after his death (which occurred on October 23, 1456). The unique statuette of Mary, hammered from iron sheet and originally gilded, might have belonged to a group representing the Annunciation.
