39. Bronze hoard from Százhalombatta. 15th century B.C. 12-13. BRONZE HOARDS FROM THE MID-2ND MILLENNIUM B.C. Bronze metallurgy in the Carpathian Basin flourished in the middle third of the 2nd mil­lennium B.C., both as regards the range and the number of the articles produced, as well as the craftsmanship of metalwork. There is ample evidence for a strong social ranking compared to the preceding period, which is reflected also by the appearance of a series of unique weapons and ornaments symbolising rank and power, and by the spectacular increase in the number of bronze and gold hoards.
