Mid-7th century on the testimony of the coin finds, can most likely be associated with the Onogur-Bulgar nobles who arrived from the southern Ukraine. Their settlement in the region would have been inconceivable without the consent of the Avar khagan, similarly to the settlement of other Turkic groups appearing at roughly the same time. Their costume, their jewellery, the designs on their belt ornaments and the profusion of gold finds as compared to the earlier period provide ample evidence that these groups had maintained close relations with Byzantium in their former homeland.
