by the grounding and paint layers. All this proves that the reliefs were attached with joints and framing completed prior to the grounding and painting process. Therefore Master M S received the panels complete with the reliefs on the other side, and in theory their colouring might also have been made by him. The question then is whether Master M S himself completed the painting of the reliefs or farmed out the work to a „Fassmaler", or master sculptor-colourer. These new findings which have come to light as a result of the examination and restoration reveal that Master M S must also have relied on the collaboration of assistants for his work.
