JAN STANISLAW JABLONOWSKI (i669-i73i) Polish statesman and poet, son of Stanislaw Jablonowski, castellan of Krakow, and Maria Anna Kazanowska. He was voivod of Volhynia from 1693, and of Ruthenia from 1697. From 1706 to 1709, he served as chancellor of Stanislaw Leszczyhski. When Leszczyriski relinquished his claim to the Polish throne, Jablonowski proposed electing Rákóczi with the support of a group of noblemen. Augustus II had him imprisoned in Königstein, Saxony, from August 1713 to late 1716 for his organising activity. He supported the publication of several religious and literary works. He completed a portion of his translation of Aesop's fables and Fénelon's "Journeys of Télémaque" into Polish during his imprisonment.
