STUDIES - Ágnes FELFÖLDI: Béla Fónagy and the Belvedere Salon (1921-24)
Pesti Könyvnyomda Rt., 1913. The booklet is accessible at the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library. Apart from the exhibition on public health, the museum organized the first National Children Studies Congress between March 17 and 18, 1913. 20 Hereby, we wish to thank the Győr Archive for rendering its rich material of records available. For reasons of space, these cannot now be dwelled on. 21 György Lukács (1865-1950) earned his doctorate in law at the University of Budapest. He supported public registration, founded public orphanages and the Gyula Hospital. He was also a devoted participant in the struggle against tuberculosis and alcoholism, as well as the president of the National Association of Fine Artists. In Parliament, he spoke up several times for the repeal of the Numerus Clausus. He was also a leader of the Revisionary League. The representative catalogue is accessible at the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library. 22 Bálint, Aladár. "Hadegészségügyi kiállítás." In: Nyugat, 1915, no. 8, p. 461. 23 Fónagy, Béla. The identification of the exhibits concerned involved the comparison of museum and collection inventories, period press releases and reproductions, as well as the of exhibition catalogues. Ferenc Csaplár, the former director of the Kassák Museum, has kindly affirmed by way of personal communication that he had never come across any written proof of a direct relation between Béla Fónagy and Lajos Kassák. The MA had arranged a number of representative exhibitions of the work of János Kmetty, Rudolf Diener-Dénes and others, who would later present their work at the Belvedere. 36 Gyula Murányi: Cleopatra, c. 1913, bronze, height: 35 cm, HNG inv. no.: 63.23-N; József Pécsi, 1918, wrought silver plaque, signed right centre: Murányi 918, inscription left: Pécsi József 1918, HNG inv. no.: 56.1560-P. The latter was reproduced in: Fónagy, Béla. "A Szépművészeti Múzeum érem- és plakettgyűjteménye." In: Magyar Művészet, 1929, no. 1, p. 29. Murányi and Fónagy had probably known each other earlier because the publication of the Museum of Society entitled Az állam jelenlegi feladatai az alkoholellenes küzdelemben has a plaque by Murányi on its cover: a naked man bearing a torch. 37 "(Murányi Gyula a fiatal éremszobrászokért)."
