ACCESSION LIST OF THE COLLECTIONS IN THE HUNGARIAN NATIONAL GALLERY 1991-1996
1996 Increase: a total of 325 works Drawings 32 of which purchase 23 gift 5 transfer 2 exchange 2 Prints 18 purchase 9 gift 9 Posters 275 purchase 3 gift 271 exchange 1 We purchased for the collection of drawings Tibor Boromisza's masterpiece In the courtyard from 1910 (F. 96.32) and Géza Bene's four early drawings from the 1920s. Purchasing from the Bedő collection went on this year: Aurél Be rnáth, Béla Czóbel, Margit Gráher and Vilmos Perlrott-Csaba (F. 96.19-22). From the so-far unknown estates of Nándor Nagy and Piroska Futásfalvi Márton, 7 drawings and 9 prints were purchased and donated to the collection (F. 96.12-18, G. 96.2-10). A rare 18th c. piece enriched the collection: Károly Fülöp Schallhas's Riverside landscape, an etching with watercolour (G. 96.13). We bought 6 coloured lithographs of László Medgyes's series Figures, 1917. An outstanding acquisition of the poster collection was the avantgárdé painter, graphic artist and writer György Szántó's rare film poster of 1917 in expressionist style (XY. 96.18). Tibor Zala's posters were obtained via exchange (XY 96.228-236). Three poster designs by Sándor A. Tóth made in France were purchased (XY 96. 271-273). The political poster designs made in the early 1980s were taken over from the Lectorate of Fine and Applied Arts (XY 96. 108-158), which have mainly relevance to cultural history. Cast into bronze after the plaster statue in the collection of the Protestant College in Debrecen. 1992 Acquisitions: 15 pieces. 11 purchased, 4 donated Main works: András Schossel: László Kralovánszky, 1854. Cast iron, 17.8 cm. Signed at back: SCHLOSSER 1854. inv.no.: 92.10-N. 1993 Increment: 36 pieces. 17 of them from the estate of sculptor Ilona Baranyai, another 7 gifts, 12 purchases 1994 10 new pieces. 1 gift, 2 bronze copies, 1 exchanged, 6 bought. Of signal importance is: János Mattis Teutsch: Figure; wood stained red, 18 cm. Signed lower left: MT. Inv.no.: 94.6-N. 1995 7 new works. 1 of them donated, 6 purchased. Important acquisitions: Vilmos Fémes Beck: Kneeling woman, 1912. Bronze, 54 cm. Signed side of base: initials 1912. Inv.no.: 95.7-N. A chef d'oeuvre of our outstanding sculptor, once in the hall of the Schiffer villa. A that-time copy of the female figure of the fountain. It is now exhibited with its pendant, the Kneeling man. 1996 Accruement: 11 pieces. 2 of them gifts, 3 exchanges, 2 purchases, 4 bequests. Two statues were copied by casting. Outstanding is: Béni Ferenczy: Saint Flórian, 1939. Painted terracotta, 70 cm. Inv.no.: 96.10-N. A piece of extraordinary beauty in the lifework. Earlier preserved privately, under protection. MEDAL CABINET The purchases in the studied period were chiefly aimed at path-setting or epochal pieces of recent decades signposting new courses of development. 1991 27 pieces.
