Irodalomjegyzék

Operating expenses were surprisingly low for all three types of estates. Considering the size and components of these costs it appears almost impossible to believe that the everyday functioning of the estates was guaranteed. From the viewpoint of landlords their estates in Nógrád County were successfully administered with the aid of a common steward. The income of landowners from their estates can be calculated by subtracting the costs, i.e. the operating expenses from their revenues. Due to the low operating expenses the financial income from the Koháry family estate was 99% between 1720 and 1731; 15% in 1725 from the estate of István II Koháry and 79-96% between 1726-1730 from the same; and 71-73% between 1727-1731 from the estate of András Koháry. Such a high proportion of manorial income is very rarely encountered in the literature from the same period with regard to other estates. The greater part of the manorial revenues was acquired by István II Koháry. When we have available data concerning the use of these revenues it appears that most of it was devoted to pious causes: the construction of a church and monastery in Fülek, donations to the church, especially to the Franciscans in Fülek and Szécsény, but he was also mindful of paupers. In 1731, the year of his death, his estates were inherited by András Koháry, and from the revenues of the heir these pious works were further supported, according to the wishes of István II Koháry. 317
