IV. A Litkei „Kossuth" Mezőgazdasági Termelőszövetkezet története

large-scale farming have developed, the filling thereof with a socialist meaning gave much trouble to both the management and members of the Cooperative. The social and economic conditions for the realization of production targets, the problems of providing for the financial and technical means of production, the effect of reorganization on production pattern and result, as well as on the income and changes in the way of life of members are analyzed in the study. In this period the conditions for large-scale production were not ensured as yet in all respects, the management and members of the Cooperative only kept learning the mode of collective farming. Chapter 4 covers the second phase of develpment (1963 to 1966) of the Kossuth Cooperative. This was the period of providing for large-scale conditions - buildings, power machines, agricultural machinery, large-scale fields etc. After a transitory period the management of the Cooperative was engaged in further strengthening the collective farm and incrasing the income of members. Gradually, the scopes of the large-scale farm were filled with contents, the economo-political and operative factors acting against consolidation, however, hindered evolvement. The great efforts, much work entailing sacrifices were not followed by farming results. Under effect of ever increasing credit liabilities, accumulation spent on expanding the scopes of large-scale farming as well as insufficiency of state subsidy, the Cooperative got into a more and more difficult economic position. Insolvency due to a trade's gap in 1966 and the distribution system based on work unit disunited the so far unified membership, several of them left the Cooperative. Thus, consolidation of large-scale farming became the task of the next period. Chapter 5 treats the third phase of development of the Kossuth Cooperative (1967 to 1973). In this phase the Cooperative Farm was financially consolidated as a response to changed economic conditions and farming factors. The pace of development of the collective farm considerably accelerated, production level improved due to the economic stabilization. During this period the independent enterpriselike farming strengthened, the Cooperative could ensure its members and ever increasing income. Since its establishment the Kossuth Cooperative at Litke passed through all growing pains of turning to a socialist large-scale farm. In addition to unfavourable natural conditions an initial lack of experience left its mark on development, by joining of forces and hard work, however, all difficulties were surmounted and the members of the Cooperative are optimistic about the future.
