az ezekből fakadó következtetéseket napjaink nyelvén és eszközeivel, átgondolt, de közérthető módon megfogalmazva, a kortárs építészet nyelvezetét használva tükrözik. A múzeumi épület és az intézményi paradigmaváltás közötti közvetlen összefüggés véleményem szerint kiválóan kihasználható esély. S zárógondolatként a Magyar Mezőgazdasági Múzeum ünnepi konferenciáján őszintén gratulálunk a jubiláló intézmény elismert működéséhez és örömmel hangsúlyozzuk, hogy a Néprajzi Múzeum közelben megvalósuló új épületével minden bizonnyal kiteljesednek azok a szinergiára épülő kapcsolódási elemek, melyek a Városligetben működő intézmények kölcsönösen előnyös együttműködéséből fakadnak. ABSTRACT The Museum of Ethnography returns to City Park. A resumé of the paper delivered at the conference held in the Museum and Library of Hungarian Agriculture, 20 June 2016 Lajos Kemecsi The paper gives an outline of the troubled history of the Museum of Ethnography, stressing the characteristics of its presence in City Park. After the founding of a temporary open-air ethnographic exhibition in 1896, the museum was moved from its cramped surroundings to the empty City Park Industrial Hall in 1906, a remnant from the Millennial Exhibition. Following a damage caused by storms the museum was moved in 1924 to the empty secondary school of the Civil Servants Estate. In 1975 the museum was relocated to its current home, the High Court complex facing the Parliament building. The short historical outline presented in the paper shows that the Museum of Ethnography, which owns the biggest and most complex collection of Hungarian folk culture, has never been housed in a building specifically designed to be a museum. This may be resolved by the successful bid and concept presented in the second half of the paper, the result of which was made public in May 2016. 91 i i
