An EU project supporting the renewal of our education programme, 2009-2011 MÁRTA CSÓK This paper is a report on the preparation and successful execution of an education tender by the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture. It presents the succesfully contested educational tenders of the last fifteen years within the museum, and describes the road that finally led to the EU project, and that the preceding programmes had been logical antecedents to this successful and complex undertaking. By involving the whole institution, with the cooperation of museum educators, specialists and public education, the programme had become the most important educational event of the past decade in our museum. The main goal of the project was to create a series of museum education programmes for pupils based on museum collections but closely adhering to the requirements of the national curriculum. The resulting activities were: museum lessons, thematic workshops, museum activities during holidays, special museum workshops, open university and all-day family events. Within the given time frame (1 September 2009 to 30 November 2010) we carried out communication, the survey and registration of participating groups, the planning of courses, the selection of museum objects and the purchase of required education tools. As a result of the project, our education offers have been enriched, the cooperation between museum departments increased, as has the awareness of the role of our institution in public education. We have also managed to create a collection of objects relating to traditional farming, specifically for future education purposes. As the museum is required to offer these programmes for five years, some of the activities are still available for interested schools and institutions. 230
