KIÁLLÍTÁSTÖRTÉNET - Nagy Ágota: A növénytermesztési kiállítások története

The history of cultivation exhibitions ÁGOTA NAGY The cultivation exhibitions were always present among the exhibitions of the museum and the collections serving as a background to this were being enriched continuously with the tool material of cultivation as well as corn- and ear-samples. The cultivation exhibitions can be classed in four groups: - accidentally created groups of corn- and produce samples from bestowers where every single item is displayed and the emphasis is put on the givers, - display of one single plant or plant group (e.g. wheat, green pepper, industrial and fodder-plants) from historical and cultivation-technological point of view, - show of species, - jubilee and other exhibitions of factories dealing with cultivation. From a professional viewpoint the exhibitions belonging to the second group are the most significant ones. At the beginning almost every object could be seen at an exhibition, later they were divided into groups on the basis of various respects. In 1934 in honour of the 14th National Agricultural Congress every display was reorganized. Here every branch of cultivation appeared; meadow-pasture farming, pastoral life, fodderplants, industrial plants (including herbs) and leguminous plants. In the 1970s exhibitions involving the show of cultivation were organized in 23 provincial branches (mostly in factory museums of co-operative farms and state farms) by the museum. After the renovation in 1985 the new cultivation- and horticultural show was of great importance among the 18 permanent exhibitions. According to the latest organizing viewpoints the agriculture-historical permanent exhibition being made at the moment deals with the branches of agriculture (among others with cultivation) in a historical, chronological frame.
