GYŰJTEMÉNYEK - Szőllősy Gábor: A Képzőművészeti Gyűjtemény története

The museum bought 117 engravings and copperplates by Ridinger between 1904 and 1907 whose hunting-historical importance and artistic value are high. In our collection there are only few works made between the two world wars. Oil paintings by Ignác Konrád (1894—1969) could be highlighted which depict the outstanding race horses of the era. István Benyovszky (1898—1969) is a significant artist of our collection; over 100 paintings made by him have been preserved. His aquarelle series presenting the Hungarian carriage types and horse-teaming ways is significant. After WW2 a purposeful developing work started, in the frame of which painted plaster statues on a scale of M were made by László Vastagh (1902—1972) which depict prize-winning breeding animals participating in the National Agricultural Exhibition. A bust series depicting the great ones of our agriculture was created by László Vastagh, Ödön Takács, Ferenc Csúcs and László Jobbágy in the early 1960s which can be seen next to the Baroque wing of Vajdahunyad Castle. In the 1970s some works by the famous painters of the period, József Csáki Maronyák (1910—2002), István Kurucz D. (1914—1996), Lajos Luzsicza (1920—) and Ignác Kokas (1926—) could be obtained. From the second half of the 1980s the enrichment of the collection slowed down. In average 10 to 20 works of art enriched the collection year by year. The ex-libris collection including 4,000 pieces in the topic of grape and wine is a separate part of the art collection which is not enriched nowadays. The corpus of the collection was donated to the museum by Norbert Lippóczy (1902—1996) in 1969. Több mint százötven éve az egyik legkedveltebb vadászkutyafajta, a pointer (angol vizsla). Ifj.
