CORN-BABIES in the collection of Hungarian Agricultural Museum (Revival of a tradition) In 1991 the Town Cultural Centre in Törökszentmiklós invited tenders for a nationwide competition of corn-baby makers. The object of the competition was to find those people who still know and practise corn weaving and knotting. Prize-winner works of this competition got to the collection of the Hungarian Agricultural Museum in August 1992. The author is presenting some types from among these works while making perceptible alterations of their forms in the course of times and the evolvement of new forms. Within the frame of interviews the makers spoke about when and how they had learned ear weaving, what types they were making and what made them to foster this tradition getting gradually forgotten. Their narrations are interesting also because the youngest of them was 16, and the oldest 76 years old. The author also touches upon the importance of making these traditions and customs known and continued by the new generation.
