Technikatörténeti szemle 27. (2005-06)
Események az Országos Műszaki Múzeumban 2005–2006-ban - Kócziánné Szentpéteri Erzsébet: Az új tanulmánytár az Országos Műszaki Múzeumban
A tanulmánytár szerepe technikatörténeti kutatásokban Egyetemi és főiskolai hallgatók mozgósítása önálló tudományos munkára A tanulmánytár tárgyi anyagára támaszkodva felsőoktatási hallgatóknak lehetőségük van tudományos diákköri tevékenység vagy szakdolgozatírás keretében technikatörténeti kutatások végzésére. (A tudománytörténet iránt érdeklődő diákok jelenleg kevés tárggyal szembesülhetnek, ezért az ilyen jellegű diákmunkák többnyire életrajz-feldolgozást jelentenek). Az OMM tudományos kollektívájának bővítése Atanulmánytár révén kiszélesedhet az OMM "külső" szakembergárdája, hiszen a tárgyak elhelyezése, könnyű hozzáférési lehetősége előreláthatólag bővítené azoknak a kutatóknak a körét, akik közreműködnének az OMM gyűjteményeiben található tárgyak és dokumentumok további feldolgozásában. ERZSÉBET KÓCZIÁN-SZENTPÉTERI: THE NEW STUDY STORE ROOMS OF THE HUNGARIAN MUSEUM FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY The most important element of the extended-range plans of the Hungarian Museum for Science and Technology (HMST) started in 2004 is to make the collections common public property, to ensure their availability. Whatever we might call the process, the essential is to provide for the museum's functions in their completeness, to operate them, which - in spite of the efforts made at HMST for several decades was not realized. During the unsuccessful attempts at providing for a building, an independent exhibition hall, HMST became nearly incapable for functioning as a museum, and - describing the conditions benevolently, inner work activities were, at most, run on a basic level. To use a fashionable expression, a "sally point" had to be found, and - in the case of HMST - this was the study store rooms as a modern form of inner architecture for exhibitions and storage which presented itself not only as an idea but also as a solution to be realized. The investment program submitted to the Ministry of National Cultural Heritage (NKÖM) was developed - as a result of the co-operation between external experts and the Museum's own intellectual capacity in a very short time, and it was in this we summarized the system of arguments that finally led to the ministry's favourable decision. The show storage open to visitors, i.e. the study store-rooms basically make the realization of a double aim possible: on the one hand - adapting to the program of the "visitor-friendly museum" - the stores of the institution are opened to those interested and to the profession, on the other hand they ensure much more favourable storage and preservation for the museal objects than those available at present. The study store rooms are practically a transition between an exhibition in the traditional sense and a storage - and allow showing of a great number of objects in systematic groups. A special advantage of the study store rooms is that - according to the needs - they can be dynamically enlarged and transformed. By the architectural shaping, HMST obtained a new reception hall, where - besides the usual infrastructural rooms - a reception unit, a cloak-room for the preservation of valuables and also for groups of visitors, and a lift were installed, which latter also starts from the reception hall. The study store rooms were inaugurated on November 3, 2006. The study store rooms were finally opened with a head of group (reception - cashier - organizing service) and 3 guides. The purpose of the latter was creating direct contacts with the visitors (of course, besides their guarding and protecting function). Our strategic aim is unchanged: from the aspect of the Museum's further development it is indispensable to build a new, larger hall for a permanent exhibition, or to utilize - for the purpose - an appropriate group of buildings. With the implementation of the study store rooms investment the social serviceableness of the Museum has increased by orders of magnitude, and the institution - until now locked up or of strongly limited availability - will be able to join, owing to the "sally point," in a higher level of cultural services.
