Babits novellában, József Attila versekben is előfordul a telefon. George Petty (1894 -1975), a modern pin-up egyik atyja sajátos témát teremtett: szép lány fehér telefonnal. Egy általa gyakran ábrázolt beállításban Marilyn Monroeról (fehér telefonnal) is készül fénykép- napjainkban is sok-sok ilyen fotót láthatunk (a telefon színe változhat). A filmekben néha csak epizódszereplő, de van, amikor fontosabb szerepet is kap a telefon. CSABA ALVÁRI: EARLY HISTORY OF THE TELEPHONE IN HUNGARY In 1870 Bell invented the telephone, which soon gained popularity among people, and - owing to the press - its use spread soon all over Europe. In Hungary Tivadar Puskás and Ferenc Puskás built the first telephone network in 1881, however, as soon as from the end of 1877 on many people bought themselves telephone sets. The first presentations of the telephone were carried out at the end of 1877 under the direction of János Takács (1813-1881), director general of the national telegraph office. At the same time presentations were carried out at the Grand Hotel Hungária and the building in 12, Váci street. Gyula Futtaki (1850-1895) was another important personality in the history of the telephone in Hungary. He was the one to present a telephone set to prime minister Kálmán Tisza at the end of 1877. In the months to follow telephone sets were purchased in many towns of the country, about which events the press regularly informed. Probably the manufacture of telephone sets started in Hungary in 1877. The first manufacturers were Vilmos Weimer and Sándor Volecz. In the years 1877-1878 Hungary got acquainted with the telephone, the first attempts at using the sets in everyday life were made. At this epoch individual initiatives were determinant. In 1879 the brothers Puskás start developing the first telephone network, which opens up a new period in the history of the telephone in Hungary.
