Papers from the Second International Conference on the History of Chemistry and Chemical Industry (Eger, Hungary, 16–19 August, 1995) - Vámos, Éva Katalin: Contributions to the History of the Association of Hungarian Chemical Industrials

Hungarian crown and belonged to one of the branches of the chemical industry as well as associations and co-operatives that had interests among chemical companies of the industry could join the Association as ordinary members. A company contributing to the aims of the Association at least 200 Cr annually and paying this amount on one occasion for five years in advance could be a founding member. Every other member (ordinary members) had to pay its membership contribution yearly in January and accepted, by joining the Association, to remain a member for five years. A higher technical or commercial official of an industrial company, which joined the Association, could be a corresponding member without a separate right to vote. Honorary members were elected by the general assembly upon proposal of the presidium and did not pay any membership dues. The membership of a company ceased, when it was declared bankrupt, when it announced its resignation (but for the remaining time of its membership its obligation of payment persisted) or when the new owner of the factory did not want to be a member of the Association. The organisational structure of the Association was established as follows: the general assembly of the Association would be convened once a year, 14 days before its session was due, and it could deal only with the points of the agenda distributed in advance; individual industrial branches were allowed to form sections and elect their president for 1 year; the Association had a board of up to 25 members, however, in the 1930s there were some boards that had 36 members. They were elected by the general assembly with a three years' mandate; the board elected, from its own circle, 4-6 members of the executive committee, who - together with the president and the vice-presidents - dealt with the affairs of the Association; the presidium of the Association consisted of the president and 3 vicepresidents; the management of the Association was dealt with by 1 paid secretary and ancillary staff, according to need. The Association brought into being this way elected as its first president Ágoston Kohner, the president of the Share Company Hungária for Fertilizers, Sulfuric Acid and Chemical Industry. The names of the presidents, co-presidents and vice-presidents before World War II are enlisted in Tables 2 and 3.
