TANULMÁNYOK - Tőkéczky László: Az Országos Magyar Gyűjteményegyetem létrejötte és működési céljai
SUMMARY LÁSZLÓ TÖKÉCZKY: THE FORMATION AIMS OF THE HUNGARIAN NATIONAL UNITED COLLECTIONS Political and economic crises following World War I heavily struck the foundations of Hungarian public collections and scientific institutions. Simultaneously, the principle of Hungarian cultural supremacy in Central Europe used as argument in territorial revision claims required increased cultural and scientific activities. In this contradictory situation a peculiar, loose union of several museums, libraries and scientific institutions, termed Hungarian National United Collections was established in 1922, which existed for a decade. Its objective was to effect stronger government control of cultural policies and to concentrate economic management. The paper discusses the positive and negative role of this union critically; it deems that in the age in question, the positive features prevailed.
