TANULMÁNYOK - Visy Zsolt: Róma gyorsmérleg a szentesi múzeumban

G'—G — P(S2 ~ Si) t The ratio of the three scales and the three lengths of the arms of the load is about the same: 8 :3 :1 = 16 :6 :2. It followes that the second position could measure three times, and the third eight times bigger load than the first. So the way of drawing up this type of balances could be reconstructed. Its own load influenced only the place of the o-point. Sometimes the unit of a balance can not be found out. In case of an intact instrument it can be calculated with the help of the length between the o-point and the hook. It is interesting that sometimes the moving weight is lighter than its calculated value. It can be consequence of wearing but the swindle must not be excluded, either, because the reduction of the moving weight with some per cents could not be found out without a standard piece.
