MŰSZAKI SZAKMÚZEUMOK - Vajda Pál: Ipari régészet – műszaki emlék-védelem
For a long time Hungary has been an undeveloped agrarian country, hence it was to be expected that most industrial monuments would be connected with agriculture. However, the traditions of geology and mining proved to be surprisingly rich (until the end of the 18th century Hungary had an internationally significant mining industry). The method of protecting and preserving industrial monuments is-a muchdebated issue, all over the world. Quite often it is difficult or inexpedient to preserve large objects but if they are doomed to be annihilated they should first be thoroughly examined, studied and documented. In this field the work of experts in technical museums is not sufficient: reliable amateurs who show interest should be involved: the creation of clubs for this purpose could be a suitable means. The enclosed list contains the - by far not complete - enumeration of Hungary' s main industrial and technical monuments in the following sectors: A Museums. - B/ Objects of water-economy. - C/ Bridges. D/ Mills. - E/ Foundries. - F/ Industrial, commercial and transport shop - yards and assembly halls. G/ Mines. - H/ Machines. - 1/ Railways.
