LÁSZLÓ BENDEFY: Rolle des Miklós Vay Sen. und Ignatz Born bei der Erkennung des Edelopalvorkommens im Tokaj — Gebirge. Die geologische Erkennung des Tokaj — Gebirge kann auf ungefähr 180 Jahre zurückgeführt werden. Dabei entfiel eine nicht zu unterschätzende Rolle auf den Ingenieur — General Miklós Vay, der in diesem Gebirge Edelopalvorkommen entdeckt hat. In Zusammenhang damit bringt die Studie die Anfangsschritte der sich am Ende des XVIII. Jahrhundertes entfaltenden Geologie dem Leser näher, und hebt dabei auch die wichtige Rolle von Ignác Born hervor. Auf die freundschaftliche Verbindung zwischen Vay und Born, hinweisend, liefert die Abhandlung bis nun unbekannte Angaben zur Lebensbeschreibung Borns. DR. LÁSZLÓ BENDEB'Y: The role of the late Miklós Vay Sen and Ignatz Born in the perception of opal gem deposits in thet Tokaj mountains The geological knowledge of the Tokaj mountains can be dated back to about 180 years past. In this connection much merit goes to Miklós Vay, Engineer — General, who detected in the mountain opal gem deposits. The paper brings nearer to the reader the first steps made by the Hungarian geology, expanding at the end of the 18th century, and stresses also the significant role of Ignác Born. By revealing the friendly links between Vay and Born, new, hitherto unknown data are added to the biography of Born.
