III. RÉSZ • A Közlekedési Múzeum gyűjteményeiből 301 - Summary 396

SUMMARY This publication is the second Year-Book of the Budapest Transport Museum. The first Year-Book —that was published at the end of 1971—makes us acquainted with the 75 years of the history of the museum, from the foundation of the institution in 1896 until 1971, it shows also the development, stock and intended directions of development of the railway, navigation and air transport collections, of the library and of the collections of coins and badges. In addition it purports several studies concerning methodology and transport history, as well as concise descriptions of some outstanding pieces of the collection of the museum. Further it publishes the catalogue of the special time-table collection of the museum and the bibliography of the works published by the members of the museum between 1966 and 1.970. This second volume —so to say as a continuation of the first one —shows the activity of the museum from the spring of 1971 until the end of 1973. The director-general of the museum, Prof. Dr. Béla Czére—doctor of transport sciences —outlines in an introductory study the work of the Transport Museum between 1971 and 1973. Among others he gives an overall picture of the re-arranged permanent exhibitions, numerous periodic exhibitions and inauguration of provincial affiliations of the museum, of the development of collections, results of scientific work and objectives of the development. Subsequently the Year-Book consists of three parts. Part I shows —in addition to the collections treated in the first volume of the Year-Book —further collections of the Museum. Mrs. G. Farkas's study gives an overall picture of the archives of the museum, that contain in 22 collection groups nearly 80.000 documents, pictures, drawings, maps, small printed matter, manuscripts,, etc. She makes us acquainted with the system of keeping records, with the most important collections and the methods of collection and processing. The collection of motorless vehicles (coaches) —that forms a relatively new branch of collection of the museum —is shown by Ferenc Kopcsándi's study. He deals with the original vehicles being most interesting from the muséologie aspect, with the models together with the tools for coach making, sets of harness, formal dresses, etc. Likewise new is the collection of urban transport being a collection of the museum that has been founded in 1967. The author, Ágnes Medveczki, reports on the motives of the establishment of the collection, makes us acquainted with the system, stocks, original objects and model material of the collection, etc. Dr. István Jasinszky's study shows one of the collection groups of the archives of the museum, i. e. the collection of maps, that comprises nearly 2400 items. He shows the collection and its outstanding pieces in categories according to transport branches. '396
