has been elaborated. Since the exhibition of bridge components and machines of large size and weight in or in front of the central building of the Museum has its limits, the collection and exhibition places of such components are arranged at companies being in various parts of the country. He reports that in the store on Tatai Road a "Study Store" has been extablished. With the help of the "Study Store" it became possible that this branch of collection could be connected with the medium and high grade technical education. Finally he presents several exhibitions and programes of greater significance. Mrs.Koczián, Dr.Erzsébet Szentpéteri points out in her paper "Collection of Not Powered Vehicles" with regret that the extablishment of the collection of hors-drawn vehicles belonging to the several thousand years old history of the land transport on public roads was undertaken by the Transport Museum from the 1960s only. The collecting activity commenced with delay, but carried out intensively couldn't make up for the shortfall of many decades. Nevertheless, as a result of persistent work, a material could be collected and elaborated, which was used for opening of the Coach Museum in Parád in 1971, for the exhibition at the stud-farm of the Széchenyi countryhouse in Nagycenk in 1976 and for the complex public road exhibition in the new wing of the central building in 1987. Beside the original horse-drawn vehicles a significant amount of spareparts (axles, bearings, bogies and harnesses), wrecked vehicles, uniforms and traveling necessaries have been collected. The main goal was of course the search for the original vehicles and their collection. From several missing original vehicles true, accurate models were prepared with a skill of high technical level, at the beginning on a scale of M = 1:10, M = 1:25 an later of M = 1:5 uniformly. Concluding her paper she informs briefly about the various coach types, the Hungarian coach building industry and about the tools of this industry. Sándor Bálint "Development of the Motor Vehicle Collection between 1952 and 1955". The foundations for the collection were laid by the members of the Museum with the help of the Scientific Research Institute of Motor Vehicle Traffic (ATUKI) and of the Ministry of Transport and Communication at the beginning of the 1950s. Since the Museum has got neither an adequate workshop, nor specialists in required member, it was forced to make use of external help. The ATUKI and several automobile repairing companies renewed 16 old cars free of charge. This was, when the Automobile Development Institute renewed the jeep of the type Rába Botond 38 M. The collection of the motorcycles was commenced in 1965. Their trustworthy identification made great problem, since the majority of the technical literature and the drawings had been destroyed in the two world wars. Beside the original vehicles a significant number of components, main units and parts had been eluded in the collection. From the technically significant historical automobiles disappered forever, true models in the scale of M = 1:5 had been prepared. The scale of the models was changed to M = 1:10 and later on to M = 1:25 after the appearance of the large buses and highway trucks. In the 1960s, due to the initiative of the Museum the manifacturers and the highway carriers decided the establishment of local collections, but this action was only partly sucessful, because of the lack of adequate place and persistent collecting activity. The Author deals with great emphasis with some vehicle types, as for example with the small car called Pente and designed by János Pente. He draws attention to the problems in connection with the restoring. From the collections of the recent time he mentions the Hungarian made Puli fitted with Diesel engine and those Opel Astra and Suzuki Swift cars, which left the production line as the firsts. Finally he reports on several automobil traffic exhibitions of greater significance. 378
