been laid, too. Prof.Dr.Béla Czére reports in his paper "The Activity of the Museum between 1967 and 1979" about the fact that following the work of his predecessor, according to a ministerial instruction the Scientific Council of the Museum had been established with the support of the Committee of Transport Science of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. A group system for the museum collections had been elaborated and the registration was modernised. In the same time the development of collections, the scientific research work and the arrangement of exhibitions were continued with unchanged zeal. The collections have grown year-by-year, but the exhibition area didn't grow at all. This fact and the intention to satisfy the cultural demand of the country resulted that the Museum opened one-by-one its affiliations, as the Coach Museum in Parad, the permanent exhibition in the Museum in Remembrance of István Széchenyi in Nagycenk, the Széchenyi Museum Railway, the narrow gauge open-air museum, and the Underground Railway Museum in Budapest. The achievements and works of the museum were published by the members of the Museum in various scientific reviews and in the series of "Annual of the Transport Museum" established in 1971. The paper informs about the technical work, the tasks concerning exhibitions, restoration and operating, about the construction of stores at Tatai street and finally about preliminary investment work for the expansion of the central building. Information is provided about the cooperation with the associate museums, training institutions and transport companies, about the execution of the tasks concerning public education and furthermore about the development of international relations. István Veress renders account in his paper "The Activities of the Transport Museum between_1980 and 1990" of the fact that the development of the Museum was furthered in a significant extent by the scientific researches, the Government decisions aiming the modernisation of the Museum Low and furthermore by the regulations of the Authority. The result of one of these regulations was that the Museum was appointed to a national research institute for carrying out researches concerning transport history and its sphere of activity was extended by decree of legal force. The paper provides detailed information about the development of the research work, the activities concerning exhibitions and furthermore about the fact, that with help of the leaders and workers of the railway a lot of steamlocomotives of transport-historical value had been renewed and put on display at large railway stations. Presented are the significant results achieved on the area of public education. As acknowledgement of these results, the National Presidency of the Scientific Education Society granted the "Plaquette with gold wreath" to the Museum. The organisation of affiliations has been continued, opened were on the 24th July 1985 the Railway Museum in Paks, on the 22nd October 1985 the Astronauties Exhibition in the Petőfi Hall and on the 1st August 1986 an exhibition on the "Museum Ship Kossuth". This renewed ship, as a technical monument under protection of the Ancient Monuments Act is on the Danube at the Chain Bridge. An outstanding event was the opening of the new wing of the building of the Transport Museum and in connection with this the opening of several new permanent exhibitions on the 3rd Juny 1987. The paper informs about the work carried out in the Museum. It was a significant help for the development of the scientific work that it became possible to participate in national research competitions and to take part in the elaborating of foundation researches. Furthermore the paper renders account of the further successful widening of the national and international relations. András Katona points out in his paper "The Activities of the Transport Musseum from 1990 376
