The striking thing about ibis painting is that the upper part ol' Kannon's robe and the. sleeves are much wider and lighter than in any of the other pictures and what is even more surprising is I hat part of the robe, visible between I he extension of ihe sleeves and flowing on lo the rocks, is not arranged in folds but depicted as a smooth surface. This obviously inusl have
