Black, brownish and red Negoro nuri decoration in some places. The eyes inlaid in glass. 6.7X6.4 cm. The legs and tails of the animals extend to the top and bottom of the inrö. According to Casal, this was in fashion for a short period only, perhaps at the end of the 18 th century. 27 Our inrö is of excellent make. Both its motif and techniques range it among the inrö made in the second half of the 18 th century. Nashiji ground 21. Inrö of four cases (Fig. 21. a-b). External channels. Inside orange nashiji with whirling waves painted in gold. Sparse gold nashiji in the black background. Masked Genjoraku dancer with the serpent before him. Behind a pine tree. On the other side a tent with karakusa and mon, and a large ceremonial drum with mitsu-tomoe. Gold hira- and takamakie, okibirame, gold yakigane and red lacquer.
