and Garuda is on Iiis diadem. After having found out who the two Wayang figures are or whom they are similar to (vid. Darah Bharata, Verzameling van Hoofdpersonen uit de Wayang Poerva, Indonesische Drukkerij Weltevreden, 1919, Fig. 10, 28.) the problem of dating and ascertaining their place of origin arises. We can't say anything certain about the places of manufacture since records of the late Ernest Zboray, the once collector, are not available. Dating Wayang figures is equally difficult since the types have been living in unchanged forms for centuries. The excellent condition of our figures and the date of Ernest Zboray's collection renders it probable that they were made at the end of the XIX th or at the beginning of the XX th centurv. V. H.
