Fig. 3. Chou Shao-yüan : Fig. 4. Chou Shao-yüan: Inside-painted snuff bottle from 1906 Inside-painted snuff bottle from 1906 (No. 50.407) (front) (No. 50.407) (back) we had to rely primarily on his papers, our short review is going to introduce the creators of our snuff bottles in the chronological order he has outlined. The Far Eastern Arts Museum Ferenc Hopp guards in its collection a little more than hundred snuff buttles including 13 inside-painted pieces; about half of this bottle collection comes from the founder of the museum, Ferenc Hopp (1833—1919) 17 who has been three times in China 18 during his five roundthe-world voyages (in 1883, 1903 and 1913) and directed here his main attention to the purchasing of artistic works made of semi-precious stones. 19 Three of the inside-painted bottles may be attributed to Ferenc Hopp (Nos. 750, 762 and 3268), eight of them were transferred in 1950 from the Museum of Industrial Arts (Nos. 50.394, 50.401, 50.402, 50.407, 50.408, 50.409, 50.410, 50.411), while one of the remaining two pieces (No. 53.388) was included in the precious gift of Dr. Ottó Fettick, and the other (No. 53.225) was purchased by our Museum. 20 17 Tibor Horváth : The Art of Asia.
