SOME OF OUR NEW ACQUISITIONS 1. China: Vase, white porcelain, thin and translucent. A scene is carefully painted with enamel colours, which is described in a poem on the other side of the vase : ,,Hu nü chuan chien Kan tsi chin, Chiao er teng hsia Tu shi shu" — ,,Calling her daughter to the window, she should see the embroidery, Teaching her sons, by lamp-light, How to read a verse." (Translation of Éva Cseh.) On the bottom, the mark: Hung Hsien (Yuan Shi-kai) nien-chi = Made in Hung Hsien's (Yuan Shi-kai) yeari.e.in 1916. Height: 16.5 cm. Inventory number 64.9. 1—2. 2. China : Porcelain cup with celadon glaze, narrow-footed, incised foliage and lotus motifs. Sung period. Height: 5'5 cm. Inventory number: 64.73.
