Fig. 3. Mahämäyüri ing lotus in dhyänäsana, embellished by splendid ornaments. She has three heads and eight arms. Beginning from the lower ones, she holds her first right hand in a position „ distributing grace", varadamudrä, the following ones hold a vase", halasa, the wheel of the Doctrine, calera, and a flaming sword, in the left hands an alms bowl filled with food, a peacock feather, a thunder­bolt, vajra and a banner decorated with precious stones. Behind her the moon is shining. Her opposite is Ratnasambhava Dhyänibuddha (Fig. 8), the lord of the earth and of the South. His right hand is in a position „ distributing grace" his left in a „meditating" one; a garment covers his shoulders and a halo shines behind him.
