„IN DEFENCE OF EUROPE" A TEMPORARY EXHIBITION IN THE MILITARY HISTORY MUSEUM Marking the 550th anniversary of the defence of Nándorfehérvár (Belgrade) in 1456, and the deaths of both János Hunyadi and Saint John of Capestrano, an exhibition of outstanding significance, titled „In Defence of Europe", was opened in the Hungarian Military History Museum on 15 June 2006. The article presents the structure and the key elements of the display through the exhibits, and underlines the significance of the various aspects of commemoration. Making use of classic components, the narrative exhibition illustrated how the memory of the main characters of the historic event, as well as the history of the stronghold and its sieges have been preserved by the succeeding generations and public collections. „IN DER VERTEIDIGUNG VON EUROPA" EINE PROVISORISCHE AUSSTELLUNG IM UNGARISCHEN HEERESGESCHICHTLICHEN MUSEUM, 15. JUNI 2006 - 30. SEPTEMBER 2007 Mit dem Titel: „In der Verteidigung von Europa" wurde am 15. Juni 2006 im Ungarischen Heeresgeschichtliches Museum die Jubiläumsausstellung mit einer besonderen Bedeutung eröffnet, die zugleich der Verteidigung von Nándorfehérvár (Belgrad) im Jahre 1456 und des 550. Jahrestag des Todes von János Hunyadi und des Heiligen Johannes von Kapisztrán gedachte. Der Aufsatz stellt durch diese Gegenstände die Struktur, die Schwerpunktelemente der Ausstellung dar, und hebt die Wichtigkeit und Bedeutung des Gedenken, das mehrere Gesichtspunkte besitzt hervor. Die Ausstellung wirkt durch traditionelle Elemente, ihre Regie ist narratív. Sie stellt dar, wie die Erinnerung der ehemaligen Hauptakteure, beziehungsweise die Festung Belgrad, ihre Belagerungen im allgemeinen Bewusstsein und Sammlungen lebte und lebt heute bewahrt wurde.
