THE TROOP COLOUR OF THE 1ST HUNGARIAN MINE DETECTING BATTALION, 1948 No sooner had the operations of die Second World War ended in the Hungarian theatre than the reconstruction of the country began and life started over. This was subject to the most important condition of clearing the towns, lands and waters of mines and bombs. The 1st Hungarian Mine Detecting Battalion (and its predecessors) rendered great services in this field, with Soviet and Bulgarian support. In the study, the author introduces the troop colour that was awarded to the battalion in 1948. Troop colours had not been centrally distributed to the units of the Hungarian Democratic Army until 1949. The Mine Detecting Battalion was one of the very first formations to be awarded a flag - in fact an irregular one conferred on them by the capital. An interesting feature of the colour is diat it was the first military standard with a red ground tint in Hungary, except for the few flags of the Hungarian Soviet Republic in 1919. DIE TRUPPENFAHNE DES 1. HONVED MINENSUCHBATAILLONS AUS DEM JAHRE 1948 Nach dem Ende der Kämpfe des zweiten Weltkriegs in Ungarn nahmen die Wiederherstellung des Landes und der Beginn des normalen Lebens sofort ihren Anfang. Eine der wichtigsten Bedingungen dessen waren die Sammlung und Vernichtung der Blindminen und Blindbomben in den Städten, Feldern und Wässern. Die Soldaten des 1. Honved Minensuchbataillons - und auch dein Nachfolger erwarben (mit sowjetischer und bulgarischer LIilfe) große Verdienste in diesen Arbeiten. Die Studie stellt die 1948 verliehene Truppenfahne des Bataillons vor. Bis 1949 wurden keine Truppenfahnen in der demokratischen Honvedarmee zentral verteilt. Die Minensucher bekamen (zwar nicht vorschriftsmäßig) unter den ersten ihre Fahne von der Stadt. Die Einzigartigkeit der Fahne liegt darin, dass sie die erste unbeachtet der Fahnen von geringer Zahl der Räterepublik - militärische Fahne auf rotem Grund in Ungarn ist.
