ÉRTESÍTŐ - Nemeskéri János: A Fővárosi Képtár kertjében feltárt XI. századi sírok embertani leleteinek vizsgálata 401-415

JÁNOS NEMESKÉRI EXAMINATION OF THE ANTHROPOLOGICAL FINDS FOUND IN THE GRAVES OF THE ELEVENTH CENTURY IN THE MUNICIPAL GALLERY GARDEN. In 1944 in the course of earthworks ten skeletons of the Early Árpád — period were discovered at the aforementioned site. The finds are very significant from the point of view of the anthropological valuation of the ethnicism of the eleventh century. According to the evidence of the anthropological investigations in the examined material mesocrania and brachycrania equally occur. The presence of dolichocrania is also determinable. Concerning the facial skull meso-leptoprosopia is general. The orbit is high and narrow. The nasal cavity is meso-chamaerrhin. As regards race analysis the examined material is not sufficient for separating it in groups of differencial-diagnostic. On the basis of the examined skulls and skeletons the characteristics of eastern baltic and dinaric types appear in general. The skeleton of Grave VII. differs from the others and on the basis of type-resemblance (turanid + dinaric) it shows affinity with the Avars and with the conquering Hungarians. 415
