Fürdőépület az aquincumi polgárváros déli városfalán kívül (Budapest, III. ker., Záhony 4., Ilrsz.: 19358/2) Az aquincumi polgárváros délkeleti régiójában, a déli városfalon kívül végzett ásatást a terület műemléki rendezése tette szükségessé. A feltárás az 1992-94. évben előkerült fürdőépület (ZSIDI 1995) területének déli részét, valamint a hozzá keleten csatlakozó udvarrészt érintette, amely a jelzett épületegyüttesnek mintegy egyharmadát jelenti. Az épület nyugati irányban áthúzódik a szomszédos telekre, ezért a feltárás nem vállalkozhatott a teljes alaprajz tisztázására. Elsődleges cél a már korábban kiásott és visszatemetett alaprajzi részletek, s főleg a bemutatás szempontjából lényeges, 3. századi római kori szintek újbóli felszínre hozatala volt. Emellett elsősorban a római kori épülethez kapcsolódó udvar kisebb, még feltáratlan részeinek, - benne in situ falfestmény maradványok felszedésével valamint a rendezési terület határán belül a déli, mintegy 10 méter széles sáv kutatására került sor.
